Emanuel Litvinoff - Journey Through a Small Planet

Emanuel Litvinoff in Brick LaneAt the beginning of Jewish Heritage week on Sunday September 7th the Jewish East End Celebration Society Jeecs marked the publication of the new edition of Emmanuel Litvinoff’s book ‘Journey Through a Small Planet’ with a celebration of his life and works at Nelson Street Synagogue.  Tributes were paid by lecturer Patrick Wright, and this was followed by readings from Litvinoff's works by actress Miriam Margolyes OBE, actor Barry Davis, authors Sandra Duffy, Elaine Feinstein and Bernard Kops.  Lastly, the author’s wife Mary McClory and granddaughter Jemilah paid their own tributes.  The author’s son Aaron, introduced the readers and all was followed by excellent refreshments.  Nelson Street was packed for this most memorable afternoon.
